
A pre-production sample may look correct, yet small unresolved details can become expensive once thousands of frames enter production. A lens tint can shift, a temple can open too narrowly, a logo can move, or a case can press against the lenses during shipping.
For an OEM eyewear project, sample approval is an engineering release—not a simple “looks good” decision. The approved sample, drawings, color references, artwork, and packing instructions must form one controlled standard. A clear eyewear pre-production approval checklist gives the buyer and manufacturer the same measurable target.
The package should answer one question: What exact product must be repeated during mass production?
The package should include the approved sample or PP sample, product specification sheet, dimensional drawing, material information, color references, logo artwork, lens requirements, packaging files, and written approval record.
Images, chat logs, or vague descriptions cannot replace formal specification documents. As part of SUSON’s customization process, materials, dimensions, colors, functions, and logo designs are confirmed prior to prototyping, and mass production commences only after the sample or pre-production (PP) sample has been approved.
Screens, camera exposure, and lighting can change the apparent shade. Review the physical sample under neutral daylight and indoor white light. For tinted or gradient lenses, check the product from both the front and the wearer’s side.
If the project uses a Pantone reference, acetate swatch, plated metal chip, or approved color master, identify it in the specification sheet and retain it for production and final inspection.

Eyewear materials do not reproduce color identically. Acetate patterns vary by sheet position, injection colors can shift between resin batches, and metal plating changes with polishing and coating conditions.
Where variation is expected, approve upper and lower limit samples or define a practical visual tolerance. Avoid “same as sample” unless the reference sample is identified and retained.
Tips: Ask your eyewear manufacturer how color consistency will be checked during production and whether a master color sample will be kept beside the production line.

Dimensions must include tolerances. A temple length of 145 mm is incomplete unless the acceptable variation is stated. For optical frames, confirm lens groove condition, rim closure, lens retention, and glazing stability.
Fit testing should be repeatable. Check that the frame sits level, the bridge contacts correctly, the temples do not create excessive pressure, and the temple tips follow the head without twisting.
Open and close both temples several times. Hinge resistance should be consistent, the frame should not rock on a flat surface, and both temples should reach the same opening position.
For a new model, test several wearers within the target size range and record adjustments before release.
The logo process must suit the frame material, available surface area, and durability requirement. Common methods include laser engraving, printing, metal logos, embedded plates, embossing, and debossing.
A logo may look clear in artwork but become unreadable on a narrow temple. Printed logos may require adhesion testing, while metal logos need controlled recess depth and secure positioning. Approve the actual process on the production material.
Use vector artwork and define logo width, height, color, orientation, and location. Measure placement from a fixed feature such as the hinge edge. “Centered on the temple” is not precise enough when the temple tapers.
Check left and right temples separately. Review logos on lenses, cases, pouches, cleaning cloths, boxes, cards, and hangtags so every application uses the same brand version.
Perform an appropriate rubbing or adhesion check before release.
Packaging affects protection, shipping cost, retail presentation, and labeling. Approve it before custom cases, labels, or boxes delay the order.
Place the approved frame inside the complete retail package. Confirm case and pouch size, cloth dimensions, inserts, barcodes, SKU labels, country-of-origin marks, hangtags, warranty cards, and logo placement.
The frame must not be compressed when the case closes. Lenses should not contact zippers, buttons, chains, or hard accessories. Verify barcode readability from a printed sample and confirm the model, color code, and SKU.
Approve pairs per inner carton and master carton, carton dimensions, weight targets, shipping marks, sealing method, and internal protection.
Pack one full trial carton. Check product movement and case deformation. For mixed models, define assortment, carton numbering, and packing-list format.
Before release, combine all requirements into one controlled record. It should state the model, materials, colors, dimensions, tolerances, lens functions, logo process, packaging, quantities by color, inspection criteria, and delivery schedule.
Define defect categories. Cosmetic issues, functional failures, incorrect labels, and packaging damage should not be treated as the same defect. Where an AQL plan is used, record the inspection level and acceptance limits.
The approved sample must remain available to production and QC. Inspectors should compare work against it at key stages and verify function, appearance, labeling, and packing before shipment.
A reliable OEM/ODM eyewear manufacturer should carry the approved specifications from sampling into in-process inspection, final inspection, packaging, and shipment.
Correcting one sample is inexpensive. Correcting a completed bulk order is not. A disciplined eyewear mass production checklist converts visual preferences into measurable manufacturing requirements and gives the factory a stable reference through final packing.
